The year started off in February. Extended family trecked off into the forest on the farm in search of larch trees. Next to a boggy region a large stand of larch was found. Larch are fairly straight and idea as hop poles. It’s best to fell the larch in Winter as at that time the sap is not running which makes the felled logs a lot lighter. Poles were stacked on the edge of the woods where they would be picked up in the Spring when it would be much easy to drive vehicles in once the snow had gone.
